Verde was founded in 2005, when a team of experienced explorers and professionals from the mining industry assembled a grassroots exploration portfolio with the objective of researching and developing mineral properties in Brazil. In 2006, the Company, then known as Amazon Mining, was incorporated in England and Wales. The Company evaluated a number of mineral projects before focusing its efforts on the production of fertilizers, namely potash, upon a closer look into a high-grade mineral source of potassium in Minas Gerais State. The focus on potash was further encouraged by Brazil’s increasing demand and foreign dependence on this agricultural input. As the Company continues to evaluate the potential of its land holdings for fertilizer opportunities, Verde remains focused on advancing the Cerrado Verde Project towards production. Since its inception, the Company has invested approximately US$30 million in research and innovation.
